Effective Exploitation Of World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago
The Politburo’s resolution No. 45 on “The Construction and Development of Hai Phong City to 2030, with a Vision to 2045” has determined to build Cat Ba, Do Son along with Ha Long to become an international tourism hub. This is an important policy and orientation in promoting the development of Hai Phong tourism.

After a long period of being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam's tourism in general and Hai Phong tourism in particular have recovered and regained growth, as proven by 7.9 million visitors to Hai Phong in 2023. In particular, Cat Ba Island’s and Do Son’s tourism is still the core, leading other types of tourism in Hai Phong to develop such as cultural tourism, community tourism, agricultural and rural tourism. Cruise tourism products on Lan Ha Bay combined with Viet Hai village community tourism create a series of impressive products attracting a large number of international tourists.
The newly recognized title of the World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago has facilitated tourism development. However, management will face difficulties and challenges in harmonizing conservation and tourism development. To effectively exploit the World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago to develop Ha Long - Cat Ba - Do Son into an international tourism center, there must be key solutions such as closely linking Hai Phong and Quang Ninh to organize the management and exploitation of the heritage to serve tourism development.
With its unique natural beauty and seven sea-island ecosystems, Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in September 2023. The recognition of UNESCO will open up many opportunities for Hai Phong - Quang Ninh tourism to develop, especially in building an international tourism brand and increasing its attractiveness on the world tourism map./.
