City Leaders Receive Tongo’s Foreign Minister
On January 9, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee chaired a meeting with Professor Robert Dussey, Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit and working session with the city leaders to introduce and discuss the potential and measures to promote cooperation in areas such as economics, trade, and seaports. Chargé dAffaires of the Togo Embassy in Beijing, China, and also Vietnam attended the meeting.

 

Appreciating the Minister for taking the time to visit Hai Phong City, the Chairman of Hai Phong People’s Committee shared information about the city’s socio-economic development and emphasized the city's potential and advantages. In particular, Hai Phong has a deep-water seaport, an international airport, and a developed transportation network that is continuously being improved, offering convenient connections to the world. The city's investment environment is favorable, with numerous incentives, and is highly rated by investors, helping Hai Phong remain one of the top destinations for investors. The city has attracted over 1,000 projects with a total investment capital of more than 32.5 billion USD. The city also shows significant potential for tourism development with famous tourist destinations such as Do Son and Cat Ba.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception by the Hai Phong People's Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad Robert Dussey shared that both Lomé, the capital of Togo, and Hai Phong have the advantage of deep-water ports that can develop into transshipment hubs with large cargo throughput and the ability to accommodate large ships. With many similarities, Togo looks forward to enhancing cooperation and exchanges between the two cities in areas such as seaports, tourism, and trade, contributing to strengthening friendship relations and fostering cooperation in the future./.
