City Leader Talked With Singaporean Delegation In Working Session
On February 27th morning, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong welcomed and worked with the delegation of Enterprise Singapore led by Mr. Kow Juan Tiang, Executive Director of Enterprise Singapore in Southeast Asia, to discuss cooperation between the two countries.

Welcoming the Singaporean delegation to the city, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong briefed the delegation on the development status of Hai Phong City. Benefiting from being an important traffic/transportation hub in Vietnam and the world, the city is consistently among the localities with the highest growth rates with a two-figure percentage of growth rate. The city is also a highlight regarding FDI attraction, as its FDI indexes always remain in Vietnam’s top spots. Hai Phong City’s general planning for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam’s Central Government, also focuses on the main drivers provoking the city’s economic growth, such as technological products, seaport services, commerce, etc.

Currently, the city has 74 investment projects funded by Singaporean investors with a total capital of up to 3.1 billion USD, of which those in economic and industrial zones account for 2.9 billion USD. The investors focus mainly on sectors like industry, real estate, infrastructure, storing units, logistics, commerces, machinery, textiles, etc. Singapore’s investment projects in Vietnam have helped create jobs for the city’s residents and add to the city’s budget revenue.

At the working session, Mr. Kow Juan Tiang expressed the wish to find investment opportunities in Vietnam for Singaporean businesses, aiming to learn about fields that are prioritized to attract investments in Hai Phong City, especially those falling under the Prime Minster’s approved general planning of the city, such as logistics infrastructure, seaports, avian transporting, offshore wind energy, liquidized natural gas (LNG), etc. Mr. Kow Juan Tiang thanked the Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee for his insightful information about the city. He also expressed amazement at the city’s outstanding development, especially in infrastructure and transportation. Seeing that the two localities share similar orientations in development, Mr. Kow Juan Tiang wished to discuss how to reinforce the future economic and commercial cooperation between Singapore and Hai Phong City./.
