Promoting effectiveness of digital transformation in customs sector
Digital transformation is helping the Customs sector improve management efficiency while facilitating import and export activities for businesses. In Hai Phong, many stages of the customs clearance process have been carried out electronically, helping shorten processing time and reduce costs for businesses.
As a provider of domestic and international logistics services, international freight services, and warehousing, this company opens approximately 300 customs declarations each month at Customs Sub-Department Region III. Currently, most declaration, document reception, and processing procedures are conducted online, significantly reducing traveling time.
This efficiency has been further enhanced as Customs Sub-Department Region III launched a pilot centralized customs clearance model. The model enables customs operations to be processed centrally on a digital platform, increasing consistency and transparency while improving management capacity.
Ms. Truong Binh An – Deputy Head of Customs Sub-Department Region III
“We have received very positive feedback from the business community. The involvement and cooperation of businesses and customs authorities in pursuing the goal of reducing customs clearance time, working time, and administrative procedures for businesses are very important. In particular, the goal of fully digitizing documents in the electronic environment shows that this procedure not only contributes to faster customs clearance but also helps customs authorities optimize their available resources.”
Mr. Tran Huy – Head of Business Department, T-WAY Logistics Vietnam Co., Ltd
“We highly appreciate the digital transformation efforts of the Customs sector, particularly Customs Sub-Department Region III. We find it very convenient to use Zalo OA to directly check the status of customs declarations, including how far the declaration has been processed and which customs official is handling it. Previously, we had to go directly to customs offices to check the status. Now, we can simply stay at home, send the declaration number through the system, and automatically receive the declaration status, helping reduce personnel requirements and save time.”
During the implementation of the pilot centralized customs clearance project, the Steering Committee and the support team have continued to improve the document digitization software. To date, the successful document digitization rate has reached 86%.
Digital transformation and the centralized customs clearance model are helping optimize operational procedures, improve management efficiency, and create a more open and transparent environment for import and export activities. This also provides a foundation for Hai Phong to further improve its investment and business environment, promote growth, and strengthen international integration.
