Opening Ceremony of Hai Phong City’s Red Flamboyant Flower Festival 2024
On May 11th evening, at Hai Phong Citys Political - Administrative Center square, the City’s Party Committee - Peoples Council - Peoples Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city formally commenced the 2024 Red Flamboyant Flower Festival program themed “Hai Phong - Brighten up the heritage region”.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, former Secretary of Hai Phong City’s Party Committee; Members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of ministries, departments and central branches; representatives of international organizations and foreign affair agencies in Vietnam; leaders of neighboring provinces and cities; armed force units stationed in the area; major investors in the city, etc.
The ceremony also featured Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee; Mr. Do Manh Hien, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee; Mr. Pham Van Lap, Chairman of the City People's Council; Members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee; leaders of the city's People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; former city leaders from different periods; leaders of departments, branches, unions and localities; as well as people and domestic and foreign tourists.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee claimed Hai Phong has always been "at the head of the waves". To protect the Fatherland, the city proudly follows the tradition to "Always be brave - Determined to win". Since General Le Chan reclaimed and established the An Bien site; Hai Phong has gone through many of its ancestors’ historical victories on the Bach Dang River.
Hai Phong Red Flamboyant Flower Festival 2024 becomes more special as Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province recently accepted UNESCO's recognition of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago as a World Natural Heritage. As Vietnam's first interprovincial touristic product, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh will develop an Action Program to preserve and maximize the value of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Islands.
For the first time, the festival is held at the Square of the Political-Administrative Center in North Cam River’s New Urban Area to promote and introduce historical and cultural traditions of the city, aiming to develop and enhance the position and reputation of Hai Phong domestically and internationally, promote diversifying and improving the quality of tourism; contribute to economic restructuring, fulfilling the expectations of Hai Phong people, Vietnamese overseas, and tourists; emulate and strive to exceed the goals and targets of socio-economic development, national defense and security plans.
Following the opening ceremony is an art program themed "Hai Phong - Brighten up the heritage region" staged with high artistic values, expressing the core features of the legends, history, culture, images, and people of Hai Phong. Part I of the program is titled "Moon Song of the Sea”. Part II with the name "Hai Phong - Radiant in May" represents the city's strong desire in times of opportunities for the Port city’s promising future./.
