Tu Luong Xam is identified as a site associated with Ngo Quyen’s headquarters during the naval battle on the Bach Dang River. With its historical remains, artifacts and cultural values associated with King Ngo Quyen, the site serves as an important venue for honoring national heroes, educating younger generations about traditional values, and connecting cultural heritage with contemporary life.

This year’s series of activities combines traditional rituals with cultural, artistic and heritage experiences. On the morning of September 23, a poetry exchange was held at the Tu Luong Xam Heritage Exhibition House, featuring poems about the homeland and country, the tradition of resistance against foreign invaders, the contributions of King Ngo Quyen, and the historical and cultural values of the heritage site. In the evening, lion and dragon dances and drum performances were held in front of the heritage site, creating a festive atmosphere and attracting large numbers of local residents.

On September 24, solemn traditional rituals will be held, including an incense-offering ceremony and the Tu Linh Tu joint worship ceremony, with the participation of Tu Luong Xam, Phu Xa Temple, Thuong Doan Palace in Dong Hai Ward, and Nghia Xa Temple in An Bien Ward. The activities contribute to strengthening connections among heritage sites and local communities in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.

A highlight of this year’s efforts to promote the value of the heritage site is the increased application of technology. Dong Hai Ward is coordinating with the Hai Phong Museum to translate Han-Nom inscriptions found on artifacts, antiques, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences and royal decrees, while gradually integrating the information into QR codes. This makes it more convenient for residents and visitors to access information using smartphones. Schools in the area are also being guided to organize incense-offering activities, giving students opportunities to learn directly about local history at the heritage site.

Alongside these activities, Dong Hai Ward is carrying out landscape improvements, environmental sanitation, visual communications and measures to ensure security and public order. The ward is mobilizing the participation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, residential groups and relevant forces, contributing to a dignified, clean and safe environment at the heritage site.

Through the series of activities, the historical and cultural values of Tu Luong Xam continue to be preserved, promoted and introduced through forms suited to contemporary life. The program also contributes to educating younger generations about national traditions, promoting the value of the Special National Heritage Site, and linking heritage preservation with cultural and tourism development and the promotion of the image of Dong Hai Ward and Hai Phong City.
