Hyogo enterprise delegation learns about Haiphong investment environment

On 10^th November evening, Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Duong Anh Dien received and held talks with the delegation of Hyogo prefecture enterprises (Japan) headed by Mr. Tatsuo Ikeda, Chairman of Hyogo Industry Association who visited Haiphong to learn about investment environment of the city.

Also attending the reception were Ambassador – Consul General of Vietnam to Osaka Le QuocThinh, representatives of Haiphong relevant departments and enterprises.

Chairman Duong AnhDien welcomed Hyogo enterprise delegation to Haiphong and expressed his deep impression on the development of Japan in general and Kansai region in particular which includes Hyogo prefecture. He affirmed that the capital source from Japanese enterprises and ODA had made great contribution to Haiphong development in recent years. He also briefed information of the city’s FDI attraction, especially that from Japan. Haiphong always considered Japan as the most significant partner in trade and economic development. During the past 10 months, Haiphong has attracted more than USD 1 billion of FDI, of which most are from Japan. Currently, Haiphong is concentrating on improvement of technical infrastructure in order to create most favorable conditions for investors; e.g., to commence construction of Haiphong international gateway port in LachHuyenin the next month with the participation of Japanese investors; to construct the second runway in Cat Bi airport to meet standards of an international airport... Particularly, Haiphong possesses Dinh Vu – Cat Hai Economic Zone which enjoys the best investment incentives in Vietnam. Besides, Haiphong is preparing for construction of a specialized industrial zone which also includes a township with specialized utilities and services in Trang Cat for Japanese small and medium enterprises.

The delegation consists of 13 enterprises and some associations from Hyogo prefecture whichrun operation in fields of mechanical engineering, electronics, constructionconsultation, electricity production, and berth construction... These enterprises paid concern about prospects of Haiphong engineering industry, industrial sewage treatment, implementation of clean water supply projects, and development of transportation system… They appreciated Haiphong potentials and expressed confidence on opportunities of investment cooperation between Haiphong and Hyogo enterprises in the future. On this occasion, the delegation will also visit some industrial zones and enterprises in Haiphong.
