Restoring The Landscape Of Lan Ha Bay
To implement Resolution No. 05 and Resolution No. 22 of Hai Phong Peoples Council regarding the support in dismantling aquacultural facilities in the bays of Cat Ba archipelago, Cat Hai District has dismantled 439 out of 440 facilities as of June 30, 2023. Only one facility of the Northern National Center for Marine Breeding under the Research Institute for Aquaculture I has not yet been dismantled.

Previously, to ensure the goal of having UNESCO recognize Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba archipelago as a World Natural Heritage; modernizing aquaculture methods in the bay and developing the unique cultural tourism of coastal residents, Hai Phong People's Council issued Resolution No. 05/2021 for the dismantling and relocation of aquaculture facilities in the bays of Cat Ba archipelago, including the breeding facility of the Northern National Center for Marine Breeding). The goal was to complete the dismantling by the end of 2022. At the same time, the city directed the development of a proposal for cage aquaculture in the bays of Cat Ba archipelago, identifying three marine areas proposed for aquaculture (Vẹm Cave - Vụng O; Thoi Quýt - Gia Luận; Ghẹ Gầm - Gia Luận); and developing local regulations on materials for cages used in aquaculture in Hai Phong City.

Under Resolution No. 05/2021 and Resolution No. 22/2022 of Hai Phong People's Council regarding support for the dismantling of aquaculture facilities in the bays of Cat Ba archipelago; as of June 30, 2023, Cat Hai District has dismantled 439 out of 440 facilities. Currently, there is still one facility belonging to the Northern National Center for Marine Breeding under the Research Institute for Aquaculture I that has not yet been dismantled. Meanwhile, the Cat Hai District People's Committee has allocated a location in the aquaculture planning for the Center to restore the original state of the landscape of Lan Ha Bay.

The Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago was recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage at its 45th session in September 2023, becoming Vietnam’s first inter-provincial World Heritage. With the convergence of mountains, forests, and islands, Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago World Natural Heritage is a representative area containing outstanding global heritage that needs to be preserved, managed, protected, and promoted well./.
