Making Full Use of Japanese ODA
On August 4th, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee, met Mr. Yamada Junichi, Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Development Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Representative of JICA Vietnam. Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, and leaders of relevant departments, branches, and units also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, the Secretary of Hai Phong City’s Party Committee, Mr. Le Tien Chau, thanked JICA for many years of great support for Vietnam in general and Hai Phong City in particular. Japan has implemented many cooperation projects with Hai Phong City through JICA, including ODA projects supported by the Japanese Government; projects implemented by JICA through non-governmental aid. Hai Phong City proposed a cooperation project with JICA with three components, including the use of ODA to invest in building a road connecting the coastal route to the Tan Vu-Lach Huyen area; rainwater and wastewater drainage system in the two districts Do Son and Duong Kinh and the upgrading of the sea embankments, sidewalks and widen roads in Do Son tourist area.
Mr. Yamada Junichi, JICA Executive Senior Vice President, said that in the past years, JICA implemented many projects in Hai Phong City and that he wished to continue cooperating and accompanying the city in the coming time. Regarding the sustainable development project components in the Southeast of the city as proposed by Hai Phong, Mr. Yamada Junichi suggested that the locality soon submit a report to the Vietnamese Government to make an official proposal to the Japanese Government. He also urged the city should study and propose solutions to invest in upgrading transport infrastructure, train human resources to maintain attraction, and attract more investment from abroad.
