Haiphong Lach Huyen Gateway port has 6 container terminal construction projects approved by the Central government. Among them, terminals No. 1 and 2 have been put into operation in 2018, while Terminals. No. 3 and 4 are scheduled to be completed in phase of 2020-2025. The construction of container terminals No. 5 and 6 has been undergoing the 1st phase (2020-2025). To put terminals No. 3,4,5 and 6 in Lach Huyen Port into operation by 2025, the city leaders and functional offices have continuously held meetings, monitored staff in fields, directed authorities in Cat Hai district and relevant branches, agencies, and units to closely cooperate, support investors in handling difficulties, especially in site clearance, power supply, and port routes.

By the end of March 2023, the construction of container terminals No. 3 and 4 has completed about 30% of the total workload. Once completed and operated, these terminals can receive 100,000 DWT vessels (about 8000 Teus). Meanwhile, container terminals No. 5 and 6 have been hastening execution progress. As planned, all container terminals in the Lach Huyen port area are expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. They can receive 18,000 – 20,000 Teus vessels, as well as direct transport and export Vietnam’s goods to continents like Europe and America, contributing to cutting time and costs for import and export businesses./.
