Million Steps Of Kindness Campaign
On the morning of March 25th, the Hai Phong Red Cross Association, in collaboration with Hai Phong University, organized a launching event for the Million Steps of Kindness Campaign in 2024. Over 1,000 Red Cross officers, members, volunteers, and students from Hai Phong University participated in the event.
The campaign was initiated by the Central Vietnam Red Cross Society in partnership with the Vietnam Youth Union, vRace, and FPT Online. It is part of the 2024 Humanitarian Month series of activities titled “Humanitarian journey - giving and receiving love,” which aims to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory and the 70th anniversary of the Capital's Liberation Day. The campaign lasted 56 days and nights, from February 25 to April 22, involving over 70,000 participants, conquering a total distance of 700,000 km, raising 7 billion VND in sponsorship support, with routes leading to historical sites such as ATK Thai Nguyen, Uncle Ho's monument, and Dien Bien province.
Participants using the vRace application could freely jog and walk, recording their distances on mobile devices to accumulate kilometers. Every step contributed to spreading messages of kindness and environmental protection, with each kilometer raising 5,000 VND to support the construction of seven boarding kitchens for highland students, sustainable livelihoods for 70 families, essential supplies for 700 disadvantaged families, counseling and nutrition for 7,000 underprivileged children, and free medical services for 7,000 individuals in Dien Bien, Son La, and Thai Nguyen provinces. /.
