Boat Racing Festival For Lunar New Year Attracts Thousands
On February 14th morning (Lunar January 5th), at Truyen Thuyet Lake in Dragon Ocean International Resort, the Boat Racing Festival celebrating the Party and Lunar New Year of the Dragon was held with the presence of thousands of locals and tourists.
The festival this year featured six teams from six communes in the Do Son District. In the past few days, the participants have been preparing their teams and organizing training sessions. The Organizing Committee assigned tasks to several units to manage, such as the referees and security, as well as facilities and the athletes’ comprehensive training.
After rounds of intense competition, Bang La Commune’s team won the first prize, followed by Hop Duc Commune. Van Huong Commune won the third prize. Ngoc Xuyen, Hai Son, and Minh Duc communes were awarded consolation prizes.
The Boat Race was a representative display of the Vietnamese culture and of Do Son’s custom in particular. The pioneering and traditional sports activity was to encourage the People to work out and train their bodies following the example of the great Uncle Ho. The festival encouraged young people in Do Son to train regularly to conquer the sea, harvest seafood, and enrich the homeland nation./.
