2nd Open Puppetry Festival In Hai Phong City
On the afternoon of May 7th, at Hai Phong City’s Theater Square, the parade and opening of the second Open Hai Phong Puppet Festival in 2024 took place. The event aimed at preserving and promoting cultural values. Transforming the traditional Vietnamese art of puppetry, responding to the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival Hai Phong - Brightening up the heritage region.
Attending the program were People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Theater Artists Association; Ms. Dao Khanh Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the City Party Committee; along with representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, and units as well as a large number of artists and art lovers in the city.
With the Puppetry Festival, Hai Phong City hoped to conduct a large-scale cultural and tourism activity to build cultural and tourism products and brands for Hai Phong on the foundation of the nation's cultural and artistic values; Promote exchange activities and create opportunities to connect cultural heritage with localities across the country; Strengthen the spirit of solidarity, attachment, cooperation and development.
The festival takes place from May 7 - 11, 2024, at the City Theater square and Hang Kenh communal house with the participation of Vietnam's leading puppet theaters such as Vietnam Puppet Theater, Vietnam Puppet Theater Thang Long Puppet Show (Hanoi); Sen Viet Art Troupe; Puppet Troupe of Ninh Binh Provincial Art Theater; Quang Ninh Puppet Theater; home team Hai Phong Puppetry Art Troupe; with the presence of long-standing puppet troupes such as Nhan Hoa, Dong Minh (Vinh Bao district), Dao Thuc (Dong Anh, Hanoi), Luy Lau (Bac Ninh), Phu Tho, etc. with many genres: water puppets, string puppets, stick puppets, mask puppets, disguise puppets, leg puppets, belly puppets, etc.
The festival brings out of the port city a unique spiritual gift to celebrate the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong's liberation and the 2024 Hai Phong Red Flamboyant Flower Festival, introducing foreign tourists to cultural products while helping them connect with the Vietnamese culture and people, thereby enhancing the spread and prestige of Vietnamese culture in the international arena./.
