Organization of Vietnam records (Vietkings) has recently announced the list of Top 5 Vietnamese famous raw specialties including Trang Cat raw Nhech (brackish eel).
Nhech in the brackish area of Trang Cat is famous not only for its big size but also its sweet flesh that is great for making salad. According to the advice from a site called Vietnamese famous culinary expert of Chef Nam Long, the ingredient for the dish is very popular and various, including at least 15 kinds of different spices and herbs, but mainly alpinia and fermented distiller’s grains. The former is to mixed with Nhech flesh,, the later is to make sauce, and the food is at its best taste if it is rolled in a piece of rice paper.
