Promoting cooperation and investment with Shenzhen Special Economic Zone
On April 17th, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of Hai Phong City’s Party Committee, Head of the city’s National Assembly Delegation, met with the working group from the Research Center of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (Shenzhen University, China) and representatives of several businesses led by Ms. Tao Yitao, Head of the Research Center.

 

Also present at the meeting were Mr. Le Trung Kien–Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board and Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong–Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee.

Welcoming the working delegation to Hai Phong City and briefing the group about the city’s socio-economic situation, Mr. Le Tien Chau emphasizes that Hai Phong City has been maintaining its growth rates at two-figured percentages annually, thanks to many advantages in geography and geo-politics. At the moment, the city is home to one economic zone (Dinh Vu - Cat Hai) and 14 industrial zones that all offer outstanding benefits, focusing on the three economic pillars: Industry-Hitech, Seaports-logistics and  tourism-commerce. The city is actively working to establish another 15 industrial zones to attract new investors, including those Chinese. Currently, Hai Phong City has about 400 FDI projects with investments from China, amassing 6.12 billion USD in capital. 

Mr. Secretary of the city’s Party Committee hoped that the working group would employ their experience knowledge in developing non-tariff zones to help Hai Phong City improve and administrate its economic zone, especially in fields like infrastructure, industry, seaports, logistics, etc. The city also hope the delegation would cooperate with universities, colleges and vocational schools in Hai Phong in forming a high-quality human resource.

On the behalf of the Delegation, Ms. Tao Yitao expressed good impressions with the city and hoped to explore the investment policies in Hai Phong and Vietnam. The working group’s leader regarded the city’s investment environment highly and would love to do more research in investing in fields of mutual interest./.
