Eight Korean businesses running operation in Vietnam were honoured with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards for their contributions to socio-economic development in Vietnam, at a ceremony held in Hanoi on December 4.

The event was co-organised by the Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), the RoK Embassy in Vietnam, and Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The awardees included Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam Co., Ltd, Lock & Lock Vietnam, LS-Vina Cable and System JSC, Simone Accessories Collection Vietnam Co., Ltd, E-land Thanh Cong company, DK UIL Vietnam Co,.Ltd, Kumho Tires Vietnam Co. Ltd., and Hai Vina Co, Ltd.

The businesses were acknowledged for their community activities in Vietnam’s localities, such as granting scholarships, constructing social houses, and sponsoring sports athletes.

Speaking at the ceremony, KOTRA Hanoi Director General Lee Kyuseon stressed that in recent years, Vietnam has been advertised as a venue of cultural exchanges and an attractive destination for Korean investors.

The awards aim to promote the efforts and contributions made by Korean people to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, he said.

He expressed his hope that the awards would be an illustration of the comprehensive partnership and brotherhood between Vietnam and the RoK.

Under the framework of the awards, a recruitment programme was held by 15 Korean businesses in Vietnam, providing an opportunity for Vietnamese students and Korean people living and studying in Vietnam, to seek jobs.

Nearly 40 Korean businesses working in the fields of information technology, cosmetics and food, garment and textile, machinery and equipment, also took part in a show held on the same day to share experiences with their Vietnamese colleagues while seeking co-operation and investment in Vietnam’s market.
