Seminar On Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement
In collaboration with the Multilateral Trade Policy Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hai Phong Citys Department of Industry and Trade recently organized a seminar titled “The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement and Export Opportunities for Enterprises.”

At the seminar, enterprises were provided valuable information about the RCEP Agreement and related commitments concerning textiles, garments, footwear, and electrical equipment industries. Discussions also covered rules of origin, opportunities for diversification and increased exports, and specific opportunities for exporting textile and footwear products to Japan. Additionally, the seminar focused on enhancing online export capabilities for small and micro-sized enterprises. The seminar aimed to raise awareness among government agencies and assist the business community in fully leveraging the benefits of RCEP to boost Haii Phong's exports. The RCEP, which took effect in 2022, includes 15 member countries: 10 ASEAN countries and five partner nations—China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Although the agreement covers a vast region and is considered a consolidation and expansion of previous Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), simplifying regulations, and creating a unified trade area, the current utilization rate of RCEP benefits has not yet met expectations. Therefore, enterprises are urged to maximize the agreement’s opportunities./.
