Opening Ceremony of the Hai Phong qualifying round for the National U13 Football Championship – Yamaha Cup 2026
The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee; Nguyen Phan Khue, Editor-in-Chief of Thieu Nien Tien Phong va Nhi Dong Newspaper; Dinh Thi Thu Trang, Deputy Secretary General of the Viet Nam Football Federation; representatives of local departments and agencies; and a large number of supporters from both inside and outside the city.

A total of 420 players from 14 U13 teams representing training centers, football clubs, and provinces/cities in the region are participating in the tournament. The teams include Bac Ninh Cong an Ha Noi (Hanoi Police), Ha Noi Football Club, Hai Phong, Ha Noi, Lao Cai, Luxury Ha Long, Ha Noi Football Federation, Phu Tho, PVF, PVF–CAND, The Cong–Viettel, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh 
The matches will be held from June 8 to June 16, 2026, at Lach Tray Stadium and the Hai Phong Youth Football Training Center.
The 14 teams are divided into three groups (A, B, and C) and will compete in a single round-robin format to determine the standings within each group.
The National U13 Football Championship is a prestigious and long-standing youth sporting event with significant educational value. Over the years, it has helped discover and nurture many young football talents while fostering a love for the sport and inspiring dreams and aspirations among Vietnamese youth.
Hai Phong City has consistently prioritized the development of sports, particularly school sports, youth athletics, and the training of young athletes. Being selected once again to host a qualifying round of the National U13 Football Championship is both an honor and a responsibility for the city in supporting the education, development, and well-being of young people.
In his opening speech, Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh Hung expressed gratitude to the Vietnam Football Federation, Thieu Nien Tien Phong and Nhi Dong Newspaper, Yamaha, sponsors, media organizations, and all partners involved in organizing the tournament in Hai Phong.
He also commended the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the local organizing committee, medical teams, security forces, logistics staff, and other supporting units for their thorough preparations, which ensured that the tournament would be conducted safely, professionally, and in accordance with regulations.
To ensure the tournament’s success, he called on organizers to continue coordinating closely and to provide the best possible conditions regarding competition management, facilities, healthcare, security, and safety for players, coaches, parents, and spectators.
He urged referees to officiate fairly and impartially  and encouraged coaches to guide and motivate players to compete with honesty, sportsmanship, and respect.
Addressing the young athletes, he encouraged them to enter the tournament with confidence, passion, and determination; to compete wholeheartedly, unite as teammates, and uphold the principles of fair play. He emphasized that regardless of the final results, every participant should be proud of their efforts, their willingness to dream, to train, and to challenge themselves.
Following the opening ceremony, the players immediately began competition, delighting spectators with exciting matches and skillful performances.
