Hai
Phong ranks 2nd in FDI disbursement
According to Foreign Investment Agency statistics, total
foreign direct investment (FDI) disbursement in nationwide calculated from 1st
January up to 20th April 2012 achieved USD 4.267 billion, equal to 68.5% of the same period last year. However, due to a number
of large projects scheduled to be licensed in the last week of April, the
actual registered capital would be higher than the reported figure. Hai Phong ranks second in nationwide FDI disbursement
with an amount of USD 926 million,
only behind Binh Duong with USD 1,264.3 million.
Out of USD 4.267
billion of total registered capital, 169 newly licensed
projects
made up USD 3.099 billion, accounting for 44.1% of total number of projects and 72.6% of total attracted capital as compared to the same
period last year. 73
projects, which had been licensed in previous years, registered to increase
capital by USD 1,168.1 million. Total implemented capital in the first 4
months was estimated USD 3.6 billion, a decrease of 0.3% from the same period last
year.
Among the large projects, Wintek Vietnam Co., Ltd. which had increased its
invested capital up to USD 1.12 billion in Quang Chau Industrial Zone, Viet Yen
District, Bac Giang Province, formed up the biggest FDI project in provincial
scale.
Other two large projects invested in Hai Phong named
Bridgestone automobile tires manufacturing
project with total invested capital of USD 575 million in Dinh Vu Industrial
Zone, and Nipro Pharma project with total invested capital of USD 250 million
to produce pharmaceutical products and medical instruments in VSIP Hai Phong
Integrated Township and Industrial Park in Thuy Nguyen District.
