Overall strategy to
develop Haiphong’s service sector up to 2020
Haiphong
People’s Committee recently promulgated the action plan to implement the
overall strategy to develop Haiphong’s service sector up to 2020. The action
plan is to concretize fundamental orientations and tasks which were defined in
the Decision No.175/QD-TTg dated 27th January 2011 of the Prime
Minister approving the overall strategy to develop Vietnam’s service sector up
to 2020; and Decision No.808/QD-TTg dated 29th June 2012 of the
Prime Minister promulgating the action plan to implement the overall strategy
to develop Vietnam’s service sector up to 2020, in order to ensure its conformity
with the socio-economic development strategy of Haiphong city for the 2011-2020
period.
Making tourism one of the
city’s key service sectors
The
overall strategy to develop the city’s service sector up to 2020 focuses on strongly
developing commercial services and investment, participating in international
and regional sales networks, and gradually establishing large commercial
centers corresponding with international standard. The strategy also
concentrates on developingproduction and business services; scientific and
technological services; financial credit services, educational services,
medical services… and simultaneously exploiting potentials of large-scale
tourism development to make tourism one of key service sectors of the city. As
for tourism particularly, it is necessary to develop toward a professional
manner, having trademark and character; as well as develop multiform service
products from marine and island tourism, domestic and international tourism in
order to make Haiphong a tourism center of the Northern coastal area.
In
the 2011-2015 period, to intensify propaganda for improvement of social
awareness on service development; to build up mechanism and policies for
service development; to enhance quality and standards of the service sector in
order to create impetus for quick and stable development; and to strongly
develop advantageous service types.
In
the 2016-2020 period, to develop strongly, comprehensively and stably the
service economy based on bringinginto play effectiveness of “infrastructure”
services which have beenstrengthened and improved, and maximum exploitingdemands
of services which have been increased in the 2011-2015 period; and to strongly shift toward service typeswhich have high added value
and high density of knowledge and technology in order to achievethe target of forming
up the knowledge economy in subsequent phases of development.
