The number of passengers through Cat Bi International Airport in June alone increased by nearly 43% over the same period last year, an increase of 34% compared to 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic. International flights have also started to resume since the beginning of June. The above figures show a strong recovery of the aviation industry after the pandemic, especially domestic aviation.
Currently , every day about 70 - 80 flights are operated at Cat Bi international airport. The number of passengers is from 13,000 to 15,000 . The main routes are mainly those to tourist destinations such as Da Nang , Phu Quoc , Nha Trang , Da Lat . The occupancy rate of each trip is over 90% . Generally in the first 6 months of the year , flights through the port increased by nearly 44% , the number of passengers increased by nearly 81 % over the same period last year . Compared to 2019, when there was no Covid-19, there was an increase of 3.5% in both flights and passengers. It is expected that from July to August, the number of passengers through the airport will continue to increase, peaking at 100 trips per day. Putting the airport apron in phase 1 into operation with a total of 18 parking spots also contributes to minimizing the delay rate of flights through the airport. From the beginning of June, the international routes Hai Phong - Inchon, Inchon - Hai Phong also reopened after a long discruption due to the pandemic with a frequency of 3 flights / week. This number will increase to 1 flight/ day from July 27.
