Eight Korean businesses running operation in Vietnam
were honoured with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards for their
contributions to socio-economic development in Vietnam, at a ceremony held in
Hanoi on December 4.
The
event was co-organised by the Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA),
the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE),
the RoK Embassy in Vietnam, and Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The
awardees included Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam Co., Ltd, Lock & Lock
Vietnam, LS-Vina Cable and System JSC, Simone Accessories Collection Vietnam
Co., Ltd, E-land Thanh Cong company, DK UIL Vietnam Co,.Ltd, Kumho Tires
Vietnam Co. Ltd., and Hai Vina Co, Ltd.
The
businesses were acknowledged for their community activities in Vietnam’s
localities, such as granting scholarships, constructing social houses, and
sponsoring sports athletes.
Speaking
at the ceremony, KOTRA Hanoi Director General Lee Kyuseon stressed that in
recent years, Vietnam has been advertised as a venue of cultural exchanges and
an attractive destination for Korean investors.
The
awards aim to promote the efforts and contributions made by Korean people to
Vietnam’s socio-economic development, he said.
He
expressed his hope that the awards would be an illustration of the
comprehensive partnership and brotherhood between Vietnam and the RoK.
Under
the framework of the awards, a recruitment programme was held by 15 Korean
businesses in Vietnam, providing an opportunity for Vietnamese students and
Korean people living and studying in Vietnam, to seek jobs.
Nearly
40 Korean businesses working in the fields of information technology, cosmetics
and food, garment and textile, machinery and equipment, also took part in a
show held on the same day to share experiences with their Vietnamese colleagues
while seeking co-operation and investment in Vietnam’s market.
